New Delhi

Delhi’s Stomach and chaos are two things that many tourists remember from New Delhi, but nonetheless, I think it’s a spectacle.  We arrived here and immediately felt the push of culture, despite the fact that we traveled to Asia for about 3 months before traveling to New Delhi.

In New Delhi, you can expect everything.  Stunning architecture, lots of people, street food, less accommodation.  We did not pay more than 4 euros for a private room in the backpacker area of Paharganj.  This is a very interesting destination that I think all world travelers should experience at least once!

Mumbai

Bollywood and home to around 20 million people make it one of the largest cities in the world.  If you want to experience the urban life of India, I highly recommend Mumbai.  It is a city that is improving rapidly and it is becoming more modern every day.

Taj Mahal

You probably already know about the Taj Mahal, but to be excluded from this list of reasons to visit India is very pompous.  I have seen lots of temples, churches, palaces, houses and modern buildings, but there is only one Taj Mahal and the details are wonderful.

The city of Agra and the Taj Mahal inspired the famous Disney movie Aladdin, making it even more epic!

Kerala

God’s own country, also known as Kerala.  Famous for wildlife in backwaters and dense forests where tigers roam freely along with many other endemic species.  If you like heavenly beaches and nature, then Kerala is definitely a place to visit in India! People are also very friendly, and many of them speak very good English.  Another thing about Kerala is that it is very romantic and you can, for example, rent a houseboat and follow the currents of Kerala backwater. There is a lot of food in South India that is just delicious!

Varanasi

The holiest city in all of them, and the place from which the holiest river flows – the Ganges.  Varanasi is a very interesting destination where you will experience plenty of culture and religion.  Every day you see people burning and it seems that fire and ashes never explode in Varanasi.

On top of that, you can meet holy men, and they are everywhere. Varanasi is also a popular place for those who go to India for spiritual practices like meditation and yoga, and there are various retreats where you can stay and practice.

Kolkata

Paint yourself red in Durga Puja, an exciting festival in Kolkata where everyone gathers to join in the festivities!  It is an annual Hindu festival that takes place in September. Apart from Durga Puja, the best time to visit Kolkata is from November to February!  Like other cities in India, Kolkata has a lot of tourist attractions waiting to be discovered!

RiSikesh

Another spiritual place in India where many people want to withdraw guidance and yoga/meditation.  Ik Rishikesh is a beautiful place when you travel to India. Purify your soul and learn something from here in Rishikesh, and take lessons with you for the rest of your life!
