Baghmara is the seat of the South Garo Hills district in the state of Meghalaya in India. The place borders Bangladesh and is about 113 km away from Tura; 248 kilometers from Guwahati; and 287 km from the state capital of Shillong. It has the famous Someshwari river, also known as Simsang in the Garo tribal language, flowing through its length and also covered with hills and stretching along the way. This southern part of the Garo Hills region has many tourist spots compared to other districts and is a popular tourist destination for local and international tourists when it comes to tourism in West Meghalaya.
