Situated in the state of Rajasthan, in India “Jodhpur” is the second-largest city in the state. It was the historical capital of the Kingdom of Marwar. This is called the sun city because the sun shines almost every day of the year here.
This city is a central attraction to tourists because of the palaces, forts, and temples it has. It is a city in the north and northwest part of the Thar Desert. It is called the gateway to the Thar. This is also known as the ” Blue City”, because of the blue wall and blue houses of the city. Which looks magnificent. Jodhpur was founded by Roa Jodha, Rajput in 1459. He succeeded in conquering the surrounding territory and founded a Kingdom named “Marwar”.
This marvelous city is popular for its food also. This popularity can be judged by the sweet shops named ‘Jodhpur Sweets’ one can find in many cities all over India. The Mirchi Bada and Mawa Kachori are some other famous foods in this city. As it is onshore of the Thar Desert, its life has been influenced by ways of select nomadic tribes called ” gypsy” in Hindi Banjare.
