Visit Time: It is a beautiful destination to visit all year round. But personally I think that, winters (November to February) are by far the best time to visit Kumarakom. The minimum temperature is usually around 18°C and this is a great time to enjoy activities like sightseeing and houseboat rides and also enjoy the abundant flora and fauna in the region. This is the perfect time for a vacation or honeymoon.

Kumarakom is situated 13 km away from Kottayam. It is a sleepy little village on Vembanad Lake in Kerala. The National Geographic Magazine has listed Kumarakom as one of the must-see places in a lifetime. The land is famous for its painstaking handcrafting each exquisite piece is still made in a traditional way. It offers a variety of interesting experiences such as a variety of plants, outdoor attractions, boating, and fishing. A combination of mangrove forests, green paddy fields, and coconut groves, this place attracts tourists from all over the world. Vembanad Lake is home to several types of marine life exclusively the Chemeen (Prawns), the Konju (Tiger Prawns), and Karimeen. How to reach

By Road: Kumarakom is not well-connected with the other cities of India. Because there are no direct buses from there to cities outside Kerala. The best way to reach this city by bus is to catch one from Kochi or Kottayam. Kottayam and Kochi are well-connected by bus to other cities around India. Kochi has buses to and from major cities such as Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad.
 
By Train: Kumarakom has no any railway station of its own. The nearest railway station is in Kottayam. It is situated at a distance of 16 km. The “Kottayam Railway Station”, which lies at the heart of the city and it is well-connected to several other cities. Some of these cities are New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Chennai.
By Air: Kumarakom has no any airport of its own. The nearest airport is situated in Kochi. This “Cochin International Airport” is around 70 km from this city. There are several flights connecting Kochi to major cities in and out of India. Major airlines that operate from this airport include Air India, Air Asia, Etihad Airways, Emirates, GoAir, IndiGo, Jet Airways, and Spice Jet. Some of the major cities in India with flights to and from the “Cochin International Airport” are Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Trivandrum, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.
