Lunglei also spelled lunch is a town, situated in the south-central part of Mizoram state, in northeastern India. The word Lunglei literally means ‘bridge of rock’ and got its name from a bridge-like rock found in the riverine area around Nghasih, which is a small tributary of Tlawng the longest river in Mizoram. It is the second largest town in the state after the capital city Aizawl. It is situated 131 miles south of Aizawl.
Lunglei is one of the most populous towns in the Mizo Hills. The principal crop in the agricultural economy of this city is rice. Cottage industries produce furniture, agricultural equipment, hand-loomed clothes, woven textiles, bamboo, and cane work. The surrounding of this place consists of north–south-aligned hill ranges with elevations from 150 meters to 275 meters.
