Silvassa is a city and municipality in western India and the district headquarters of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Silvassa is a city on the banks of the Daman Ganga River in western India, bordering the state of Gujarat. It was a part of former Portuguese Goa and Daman and is currently the largest city of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. Formerly under Portuguese rule, it is known for various tribal traditions, which are explored through objects such as masks and musical instruments in the Tribal Cultural Museum. Many big companies have set up their manufacturing units there. The city has a large number of factories that provide significant government revenue, allowing the city to maintain a low level of taxes. The city was selected as one of the hundred Indian cities in the Government of India’s flagship Smart City Mission. Bal Udyan Park has children’s play areas. Northwest of Dadra, Banganga Lake Garden is a Japanese-style island garden with boats for rent in the surrounding waters.
