    History

    Amber or Amer was once the capital of Rajasthan. It was known as Dhundar. Kachhwahas was the ruler of it from the 11th to the 16th century until the capital was moved to the city of Jaipur. In 1592 AD Raha Man Singh built this fort and later Raja Jai Singh I expanded and renovated it. Many old forts and palaces have been destroyed or replaced by other structures but this palace is good against all of this. It still stands with its head held high.

    Amber Palace is an example of a colorful architectural design. It is made in the style of marvelous Rajputana architecture. This building was built with red and white sandstones. It is a perfect amalgamation of Mughal finesse and Hindu-style architecture. The carvings on the walls and ceilings of the palace are one of the most attractive things about this palace. 

    It is divided into four sections. All of them are called a courtyard. The beautifully designed sculptures at the entry get of the courtyards give a unique architectural element to the palace.

    The palace has several buildings- Sukh Mandir, Sheesh Mahal, the famous Ganesh Pol, and others. Diwan-i-Khas represents the glorious history of Rajput Kings and Mughal emperors.

    Amber palace overlooks the Maota Lake and the excellent lush green garden adds more charm. There are many amazing structures, sculptures, and objects of artistic pleasure in this gorgeous palace.
