    Anjuna flea market was started by the hippies in the early 1960s as a cause of their craze for trance music. They used to dance and partied all night over here. The place offered them fun, happiness, and freedom. The market’s trend came when the hippies got into the business of selling their second-hand products to buy new products when they were short of money. 

    It is also said that the market was started by the father of hippie ‘eight fingers Eddie’ 

    In 1975.  Once the hippies’ followed the trail through Eastern Europe and reached Anjuna, where they burned their passports by accident and ran out of money.

    Anjuna flea market is a weekly market. It is a hippie’s paradise in Goa. Here you will find a treasure of hippie clothes, handicrafts, and souvenirs. This market started in 1960 for hippie travelers to exchange their beautiful and unique products. 

    The local people used to call the market the open-air goods exchange market in the beginning. Now it has become an attractive tourist destination. In the beginning, the flea market was organized in a small area of the beach. But nowadays it extends from to the paddy fields with a great number of stalls. 

    At this flea market, you will get the best Tibetan and Napali goods. You will also be able to get your hair colored or body pierced at some stalls of the market. This place is not only for shopping but also a chilling place. 

    You will also find this market abuzz with music, dance, food, drinks, and parties at late night. The only skill you need most here is bargaining to buy the product within your budget.
