The Baghmara Pitcher Plant Sanctuary is situated in the city of Baghmara, under the state of Meghalaya, in India. It is named after the location of the Sanctuary and Pitcher plant. Nepenthes Khasiana is a rare insectivorous plant that is being conserved and protected in this Sanctuary. The Pitcher plant is locally known as “Me’mang-Koksi” which means ghost basket. The locals regard it as a sacred plant. That’s where the name came from. Nepenthes Khasianais the only endemic species of the genus Nepenthes that can be found in the country.
