    Bom Jesus Church (Church) is located in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu in India. Moti Daman is a nearby area or landmark.     History

    Founded in 1559 and consecrated in 1603, the Cathedral of Bom Jesus is a masterful example of the brilliant engineering art of the Portuguese. The intricately carved entrances, ornate interiors and artistic wooden altars of this temple have withstood the test of time. The richly carved gateway on the south, with elevated facade and high ceiling, is adorned with elegantly carved figures of six saints. Echoing the principles of traditional Roman art and architecture, the church dedicated to Bom Jesus attracts a large number of both tourists and pilgrims.

    The pulpit of the church is so intricately carved that you can see every minute detail there. The wooden altars are also beautifully carved and painted in complimentary coolers of red, blue and gold and add to the aesthetic appeal of the church.     By Air: The nearest airports to Daman are Mumbai (170 km) and Surat (90 km). Flights to Mumbai are easily available from all major airports in the country. Surat is connected by flight from Delhi. The nearest international airport is Mumbai. From the airport, one can hire a taxi to reach his desired place. 

    By Rail: The nearest railway station to Daman is Vapi, which is about 12 km away.  It is located on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route of the Western Railways and is about 170 km from Mumbai and 90 km from Surat. Major Delhi-Mumbai and Mumbai-Ahmedabad bound trains stop at this station. Travelers traveling to Daman by train can get down at Vapi and reach Daman by local bus or taxi, otherwise from the station, one can hire a taxi to reach his desired place. 

    By Road: Daman is easily accessible by road and is connected to some major cities nearby with a well-maintained road system. Vapi, at a distance of 12 km, is located on the Mumbai – Ahmedabad National Highway and is easily connected to Daman by road. The city is located 170 km from Mumbai, 360 km from Ahmedabad, 768 km from Diu, 110 km from Surat, and 300 km from Vadodara.

    You can collect oysters, shellfish and other sea marks and swim or have fun in the sea, but don’t forget to protect it as its water is shallow.
