    History

    It can be said that Jaipur is a very well-planned city. The City Palace of Jaipur is actually one-seventh part of the entire old Jaipur.

    The construction of the palace was started by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. He called the famous Bengali architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya and Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob to design the Pink City “Jaipur”.

    They mixed European and Mughal architecture styles with traditional Rajput architecture and created this wonderful palace. The construction of this palace started in 1729 and finished in 1732. 

    The main palace has small palaces, gardens, beautifully carved courtyards, open terraces, and more. The Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar were added to the premises of the palace along with the outer walls of the palace.

    The City Palace Jaipur is a perfect combination of Mughal, Rajputana, and European styles of architecture. ” It follows the ‘Vastu Shatra’ which is said to be facilitating the art of living and the atmosphere in the palace.”

    The palace is structured in ‘Grid Style’ which has four gates to enter and exit. The names of the gates are- Tripolia Gate, Udai Pol, Virendra Pol, and Jaleb Chowk.

    This palace also has some other palaces, courtyards, gardens, terraces, temples, balconies, and patios which have latticework, jail work, inlaid ornamentations, and carved marble. The walls of this palace reflect the Mughal style which has mirrors and latticework.

    By air: You can reach Jaipur quickly if you are going by air. The nearest airport to the City palace is the Jaipur International Airport (JIA). It is situated at a distance of 12.3 km from this well-known palace. It is well connected to the other cities of the country. You will easily find local transport at the airport. Which can take you to your destination. 

    By train: It is a great option to go to Jaipur by train. Situated at a distance of 4.7 km from the City Palace, the Jaipur Junction Railway Station is the nearest railway station to this palace. It has a good connection with the other cities of Rajasthan and the major cities of India. Local transport like taxis and cabs can be found at the railway station. By hiring them you can reach.

    By Road: You can find local transport which can take you to the place.
