Dalpat Sagar Lake is not a natural lake. It is an artificial lake whose history is many years old. It was built 400 years ago by Dalpat Deo Kaktia, the king of ancient Jagdalpur, primarily to conserve rainwater. At that time it contributed to the advancement of science as well as the benefit of the people through water conservation as other kings were also aware of the issue of water conservation which also brought progress in the development of the country. This is how Dalpat Sagar Lake started.
