    On the Ganga River in Uttar Pradesh, Dashashwamedh Ghat is the main ghat in Varanasi. It is probably the most spectacular ghat and is located near the Vishwanath Temple. The literal meaning of the Dashashwamedh is the Ghat of the ten sacrificed horses. Two Hindu legends are associated with it: according to one, Brahma sacrificed ten horses here during the Dasa-Ashwamedha yagna, and according to another, Brahma created it to welcome Shiva. In 1748, the present ghat was built by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao. In 1774, a few decades later, Ahilyabahi Holkar, the Queen of Indore rebuilt the ghat. For performing Pitru Shradh, Tarpan, and Asthi Visarjan for ancestors, The Dashashwamedh Ghat has immense significance. For performing the Shradh Karma, people come here from across the globe.

    Dashashwamedh ghat is located on the bank of the river Ganga near the old Vishwanath Temple in the Kashi. It is also believed that in the second century, the ten-horse sacrifice was done by the Bhara Shiva Naga rulers. This ghat is famous for the Agni Puja which is performed here every evening by a group of priests who are dedicated to Lord Shiva, the River Ganga, the Sun, Agni, and the entire universe. The ghat has become a religious site for devotees and pilgrims as well as tourists over the years. Historically, as the most favorite and main ghat among Hindu devotees, it is considered. Due to the various religious significance of the ghat, Hindu devotees come in large numbers during the great festival. The ghat retains its beauty with temples and religious places of various Hindu deities. To perform various rituals and religious activities, Pilgrims come here. The evening Ganga Aarti at this ghat attracts huge crowds from every corner of the city. In the morning, some of the devotees come here daily to pay homage to their Lord after having a holy bath in the Gange water. If one spends some time at this ghat, he can be full of spiritual thoughts. Because of the beautiful environment, safe atmosphere, and cool and fresh air, some people are used to daily meditation in the early morning at the ghat. Spending some time here feels like sitting in heaven. Sunrise and sunset scenes in the morning and evening respectively are spectacular scenes that give the Ganga water its special color.
