    Delhi Ridge is simply called sometimes The Ridge. It is the northern extension of the ancient Aravalli Range. Rightly it is called the lungs of Delhi. Basically protects the city from the hot winds of Rajasthan’s desert owing to its greenery environment. The Ridge comprises four parts—South Central Ridge and Southern Ridge, Northern Ridge, and Central Ridge.

    The Northern Ridge is the hilly area near Delhi University. The  Central Ridge stretches, from south of Sadar Bazaar to Dhaula Kuan.

A good walk in these places provides ample opportunities for birding. more than 100 avian species have inhabited this area. It is the best place for bird watchers. Many birds come here during many seasons. It is the tail end of the ancient Aravalli Hills, basically which are around 1,500 million years old and stretch at most 800 km from the State of Gujarat, through Rajasthan & Haryana, and finally ends at Delhi.
