    Inside/Outside Views

    Ghanteswari Temple

Beautiful meadows and dense forest views are offered by the Chiplima bridge while walking over the bridge.  Under the bridge murmuring and kissing the walls of the bridge, Mahanadi River waters flow smoothly.   In earlier times, the Mahanadi river used to have many whirlpools, and many boats used to drown in it. So,  the bells of this temple were shaken fiercely to produce loud sounds, to warn any sailor nearing this spot. This is why the temple is also known as the ‘lighthouse without light’.  After the construction of the Hirakud Dam, nearby the place became safer.  Near this temple, the Chiplima Hydro Power plant is also situated.
