    Ghanteswari Temple

From across the state, many pilgrims visit the temple. Built by the early sailors, it is known as the ‘lighthouse without light’, for whom the bells served as warning against heavy winds. The major importance of this place lies in the great number of small bells which are hanging all around the temple.

    Ghanteswari Temple

Ghanteswari Temple was designed throughout Ancient traditional} times by sailors on the bank of stream Mahanadi. Bells within the temple were wont to alert the villagers and different sailors against the storm and powerful winds. it had been a lightweight house while not light. to go to this temple one should bear the distinctive slim bridge of Chipilima Hydro Power plant, which is a journey by itself. Walking on the Chiplima bridge offers lovely meadows and dense forest views. Mahanadi stream waters flow swimmingly beneath the bridge murmuring and petting the  ls of the bridge

    Inside/Outside Views

    Ghanteswari Temple

Beautiful meadows and dense forest views are offered by the Chiplima bridge while walking over the bridge.  Under the bridge murmuring and kissing the walls of the bridge, Mahanadi River waters flow smoothly.   In earlier times, the Mahanadi river used to have many whirlpools, and many boats used to drown in it. So,  the bells of this temple were shaken fiercely to produce loud sounds, to warn any sailor nearing this spot. This is why the temple is also known as the ‘lighthouse without light’.  After the construction of the Hirakud Dam, nearby the place became safer.  Near this temple, the Chiplima Hydro Power plant is also situated.
