    One of the most famous parks situated in Dimapur, Nagaland is Green park located amid Dimapur city limits. Being located beneath the State Horticulture Nursery, Green Park is full of greenery. Encompassed by attractive restaurants the park has many amenities that the visitors can utilize – making Green Park one of the prime hang-outs spots amid Dimapur. Besides, this is the cleanest part of the region.


    Green Park in Dimapur is an idyllic recreational park that is abundantly blessed by its surroundings. There are a lot of facilities to do in the park such as enjoying boating in the lake within the park, a boat capacity of 4 people. You can also enjoy a leisurely lunch in the open shaded grounds or even enjoy a sumptuous meal in the restaurant. The park is an ideal spot for picnics or social gatherings and is full of greenery. Besides one can easily reach Rangapahar Reserve Forest, Dimapur Zoological Park, Hong Kong Market, Naga Shopping Arcade, Intaki Wildlife Sanctuary, Kohima Botanical Garden, Nagaland Science Centre, and many other places in a short time from Green park. You will feel like you are far away from the city’s inhabitants. An ideal place for exercise or so-called quiet time. You can walk around, play with kids and can get a good swing of mood, and also experience fresh and healthy air. This is a beautiful place covered with flowers. It also provides you with a restroom for relaxing in the core of the park. There are also enough facilities for parking your car. Besides, it has a surplus as it’s a place where wheelchairs are accessible so you can bring your near and dear ones with different abilities, and thus they can also enjoy this mesmerizing beauty of the park.

    Green park is the first and foremost recreational park that comes up in Nagaland‘s Dimapur.  When it was first inaugurated, it was one of the best places in Dimapur and also has a good hotel and a place for boating. However, for a little period of time, it was shut down although now it’s open and people can also hang out there. As it’s one of the first modern parks in Nagaland, one should visit there in Dimapur visit. By the state Govt of Nagaland, Green Park is taken care of and is very well maintained.

    How to Reach

    By Air: Well connected to Guwahati and Kolkata, the only airport in Nagaland is in Dimapur.  The nearest airport will be in Guwahati or Kolkata when you are in need of an international flight. From you will get transport easily by which you can reach the park.

    By Rail: In Nagaland, Dimapur is the only railway station as well which is only connected to Kolkata and Guwahati. To kick start the holiday in the Northeast, visitors will have to first get down at Guwahati, and then take another train to reach Dimapur. After reaching the station the way to reach the park is quite easy as there are almost all kinds of transport available outside the station.

    By Road: Dimapur is well linked to some other parts of the state. Connecting  Dimapur to Kohima, Imphal, and the Myanmar border at Moreh, National Highway 39 is there. NH 36 connects Dimapur with Doboka and later Guwahati via NH 37.  One can easily find Auto Rickshaws or rickshaws here to reach from one sightseeing place to another.

    Tips for Travellers

    1. Though the park is safe to visit but as it is a public place you must be on the safe side.

    2. You can get food here but it would be good to carry your own snacks or at least a water bottle.

    3. In the case of family picnics you can also carry portable tents with you as the park is open to the sky. It is a great way to avoid the density of sunray when it is out of tolerance.
