    Spread over twelve acres of land, the Heritage Park is located at the center of the city, on the northern side of Raj Bhawan on the Agartala-GBP Hospital road. Depicting the cultural heritage of Tripura, the entrance to the park has an imposing gate, both tribal and non-tribal. (i)  located in about three acres of land at the entrance, mini-Tripura(ii) central area being raised as natural forest, and (iii)  with medicinal plants, herbs, and shrubs, a plain table land, are the three segments of the park.

On a well-decorated palate, all the glamor, vigor, and wonder of Tripura are presented to the tourists. Namely Unakoti sculptures, Neermahal Palace, Ujjayanta Palace, Tripura Sundari Temple, Stone relics of Pilak, Mahamuni, Chandrapur, etc. are miniature versions of the wonders of Tripura.

    History

    In the heart of the capital city, the Heritage Park is built by the Government of Tripura. Inaugurated in the year 2012 by the Chief Minister of Tripura, the Heritage Park by the Agartala GBP Hospital Road in Agartala next to the Raj Bhavan, is a grand establishment. Harmonically mixing the art and culture of both tribal and non-tribal sections of Tripura’s history, the entrance of the park is a mind-blowing piece of artistry to present a unique state-of-the-art structure. Sculpted by landscape designers, the garden is also very well-manicured.

    Inside View of Heritage park The addition of many natural resources of the Tripura forestry is planted to give more grace to the Heritage Park,  on the natural forest part of the park.  In this part of the park, the indigenous trees and exotic flowers, and animals of the land are also preserved.  To keep visitors interested and entertained in this serene ambiance of the miniature Tripura, the Park is further decorated by heritage benches, stone statues, monuments, earthen potteries, wood carving, and much more.

    How to Reach

    By air: From the main city in Singerbhil, the Agartala airport is located about 12 km. Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Chennai, connect to most major metros of the country, but only via Kolkata and Guwahati.  Daily passenger flights from and to the city airport are operated by airlines like SpiceJet, IndiGo, and Air India. From Kolkata or Guwahati to Agartala, the flight duration is only about one hour.

    Situated at about a distance of 570 km, the nearest airport is the Imphal airport. At about a distance of 575 km, the second closest airport is the Guwahati Airport.

    By rail: Be warned about traveling to Agartala by train, as it would take longer than the distance between Agartala and other cities. While from Kolkata, it’s about a distance of 12 hours, it takes about 28 hours, from Delhi.

    By road: From Kolkata, Guwahati, Shillong, and Silchar, there are regular and direct bus routes to Agartala which are preferred by tourists and businessmen alike. As buses now travel via the neighboring country, Bangladesh, the much-awaited Dhaka-Kolkata bus service has decreased the distance and duration between Kolkata and Agartala by almost half. Via National Highway 44, Agartala is connected to Assam and other states. 

    Tips for Travellers

    You must be aware while traveling to the city. Besides you should avoid traveling there after sunset. But if you are already in the city you can travel to the park in the evening.
