A rich collection of letters, photographs, badges of ranks, and other war memorabilia including arms and ammunition, bayonets, helmets, and bottles, among others, are also displayed here reminding the visitors of the noble sacrifices made by the INA soldiers.

    History

    In October 1968, work on the cenotaph has been started which was completed in the month of  September 1969 and was unveiled by Indira Gandhi. Work on expanding the monument complex to present-day size was unveiled when it was constructed. In Indian currency, Rs 6.23 crores were spent for this memorial building. In April 1944, Where Colonel S. A. Malik leading an INA unit raised the flag of Azad Hindi, a stone cenotaph has also been erected at the historic Moirang Kangla. The site is administered by the Imphal state government, since 1985. The peace memorial at Lotpaching which was raised by the Japanese government is also close to the complex.

The main characteristic of the complex is an alteration of the INA’s memorial to its fallen soldiers as it stood in Singapore, before its demolition at the hands of British Indian Army sappers in 1945. A museum is also contained in the complex, along with a library and an auditorium, and a statue of Subhas Chandra Bose. The museum also contains a gallery of the historical personalities of Manipur along with one of the Manipuri soldiers of the Indian National Army.

    By Road: From Imphal, it is 53 km away and 522 km from Guwahati, by road on National Highway No. 53. You can get public and private transport available here.
