    History

    The temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh in the year 1651, who ruled Udaipur from 1628 to 1653. It is the home of Lord Vishnu. This building is a perfect example of the Maru-Gurjara architecture of the era. 

    To build this marvelous temple Maharana Jagat Singh spent 1.5 million rupees. It was renovated due to the Mughal invasion.

     As a part of revenge upon Rajput rulers, the Mughals destroyed many carvings and figurines of the temple. They took part in vandalism to take out their frustration on their defeat by the Mewar rulers. 

    According to the legends, it is said that the marble slab in this temple has some magical powers. If someone rubs their knees, shoulders, or back on this marble, they can quickly get rid of the pain. It is hard for some people to believe this, however, the beliefs that are associated with religion cannot be questioned or denied.
