Jahaz Mahal is located next to Hauz-i-Shamsi in Mehrauli, Delhi on its northeastern corner. The word ‘Jahaz’ means “Ship” and ‘Mahal’ means “Palace”, the overall meaning is “Ship Palace”). It was built during the Lodi dynasty period (1452–1526) as a pleasure resort, Sarai, or an inn. It completely reflects the beauty of the ancient structure. The Mahal is further surrounded by a pond and the reflection of the palace over the pond makes it look like it’s floating on the water. Actually, Mehrauli is blessed with so many beautiful things, one of them being the Mahal. If you are in the city, go and visit this place.

The whole place is quite big. The magnificent architecture of this palace has turned into one of the most visited places in the city. The beauty of this palace attracts tourists from many places. The structure is 110 meters in height and around 15 meters in width. The place stands strong with an entrance from the east, and it further connects the main entrance that has recessed arches. There are not more than 6 arched openings protected with an overhanging cornice with the continuous support of stone brackets. This is how the palace got its name because it is looking at the surface of the water. The palace gives a breathtaking view of floating architecture. Besides the maintenance of this place is excellent. It is worth seeing.
