    Jama Masjid is one of the prime mosques, where the city’s Muslims traditionally gather for Friday prayer. In 1650–56, the JAMA masjid is constructed by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, located in Chandi Chowk, Delhi. The architecture of this mosque is excellent and the second largest mosque on the Indian subcontinent is also an amazing example of Mughal architecture.     History

    Actually, the emperor, Shah Jahan built the Jama Masjid in the walled city of Shahjahanabad (now old Delhi). It was the capital of the Mughal Empire back then. In 1644, it took 12 years for long, since the construction began, then in 1656, it was completed. In this construction, more than 5000 Workers were engaged, and the whole work was 

    supervised by Saadullah Khan, he is the prime minister of the emperor. This mosque was built at a cost of one million rupees and Shah Jahan spared no expenses to build this grand monument.

    The whole view of this place is amazing. Jama Masjid and its courtyard stand on an outcropping more than 30 steps higher than the street, giving the mosque an amazing view of the surrounding area. The longer name, Masjid-i Jahan Numa, means “world-reflecting mosque”. The Jama Mosque was built by a crew of some 5,000 workers and the main construction material was red sandstone and some white marble was also used. The largest interior space is the prayer hall, the hall’s entrances are calligraphic inscriptions in Persian then Three large marble domes rise from the prayer hall’s roof.
