    Kargil is the newly created Union Territory of India and one of the two districts & the joint capital of Ladakh. On the banks of the Suru River, it is located at an altitude of 8,80 feet above sea level.

    Attraction

    With beautiful interior wall paintings, the main attraction here is a small cave monastery.  Offering great picturesque views, it is perched on a cliff. With its landscape, which has plenty of contrast, tourists will quickly fall in love with spending their holidays in Kargil. Along with monasteries, there are valleys, lakes & mountains, which offer attractive sightseeing opportunities.

    History of Kargil City View Point.

    Built by the Indian Army to commemorate the Kargil War, there are also historical places like Kargil War Memorial, which occurred between India & Pakistan in 1999. The main attraction is the There is a Sandstone Wall, on which the names of all the martyrs of the Indian Army are mentioned. Mulbekh Monastery, is another historical sightseeing place in Kargil, which actually consists of two gompas: Serdung Gompa & Rgaldan-se Gompa.

    How to Reach

    By air: Very well connected with some major airports in India, including New Delhi, the closest airport is Leh Airport. To reach the destination from the airport, taxis can be hired.

    By Rail: At a distance of 812 km from Leh, the closest central railway station from Leh is Jammu Tawi. To reach Leh over Srinagar Leh Highway in a 3-day journey with overnight halts at Srinagar and Kargil, taxis can be hired from the railway station.

    From Leh via Manali Leh Highway, Joginder Nagar railway station is just 635 KM but is not a major one.

    By road: The most feasible option is to travel the distance between gurudwara and Leh by road. Between November and April,the road remains closed , so  during that time,you should avoid going there.

    You must keep your snacks and water bottle with you. Be polite and don’t do any kind of activities which may disturb other visitors.
