The Baker’s State is the origin of Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary since 1847. But later Henry, who was the progeny of Baker, developed the bird sanctuary and made it more majestic to the visitors. Soon, local and migratory birds choose this land as their home. Now The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation controls this bird sanctuary. Now it is controlled by The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation. The bird sanctuary has 180 kinds of species of birds which are really wonderful to see. Moreover it is the biggest and most attractive bird sanctuary in Kerala and all over India.
