One of the first ten museums in the country and the first in Chhattisgarh started with the donation of mahant ghasidas of rajnandgaon, in 1875. To preserve and develop this museum special efforts were made after 1945.

How to Reach

By air: serving the state of Chhattisgarh, swami Vivekananda airport or mana airport is the primary airport which is located about 15km south of Raipur near Naya Raipur. From the airport, one can hire local transport to reach the museum.
By road: by road, Raipur is well linked with the other cities of the state. After reaching the city there are many means of transport like rickshaws, cabs, etc to museum
By rail: the primary railway station of the city is Raipur junction railway station which is situated on the Howrah-Nagpur-Mumbai line of the Indian railways and is well connected with most of the major cities.
