    History

Mirik has recently been added to the tourist location of the Darjeeling area. Surrounded by hills, Mirik town used to be a meadow. In 1970, the West Bengal Tourism Department made a small dam to block the water from flowing out, thus creating the lake. One of the most prominent tourist attractions of Mirik town has turned to the lake. On the west of the lake is a temple named Singha Devi Mandir.

    Inside/Outside Views

A footover bridge links both sides of the lake called the rainbow bridge. Having a very thick growth of plants, the place where the present lake stands used to be a marshland. In the olden days, the area where the garden was present was a playground, which the British used to play the game of polo. Having the best view of the snowcapped Himalayan Range and the valley, there are two points near the lake, Rameetya Dara and Deosi Dara.
