    Mount Chombu is one of the world’s most beautiful unclimbed mountains. It stands alone and proud as Sikkim’s Matterhorn, the sole unclimbed 6,000m summit in north Sikkim. Its defenses, on the other hand, are fearsome.

    This unclimbed hill is very beautiful to look at. Although the mountain is very remote, its surroundings are very attractive to visitors. This is a great place for someone to spend their time alone.

    Devi Singh, Pemba Gyaltzen, and Nima Tsering, members of an Indian expedition to Kangchengyao, were the first to climb Chombu on October 13, 1961.

    How to Reach

    By Air: The nearest airport is at Bagdogra, West Bengal, which is around 5 hours from Gangtok and 220 kilometers from Yumthang. Sikkim also has its first commercial airport in Pakyong, East Sikkim, but the weather frequently prevents it from operating. If you’re lucky, you might be able to catch a direct flight to Pakyong.

    By Rail:Yumthang is around 215 kilometers from the nearest railway station, New Jalpaiguri (NJP) in West Bengal.

    By Road: Yumthang is located around 127 kilometers from Gangtok, the state capital. After obtaining the requisite permissions, you must halt in Gangtok and begin your journey to North Sikkim the next morning.

    While visiting the monastery, keep outdoor ethics in mind. Follow the marked pathways; just take photos and leave only footprints. Wear warm clothing and comfy shoes. Respect the habitats of birds and animals
