    The magnificent Nahargarh fort stands on the edge of the Aravalli Hills, in the city of Jaipur, under the state of Rajasthan, in India. It defends the ring for the city along with the Amber fort and Jaipur fort. It is one of the most attractive palaces in the city. The original name of this fort was Sudarshangarh, however, it became known as Nahargarh fort which means ” abode of tigers”. According to legends, it is said that Nahar here stands for Nahar Singh Bhomia, whose spirit hunted the fort. His spirit was calmed down by building a temple in his memory within the fort that is named after him. 

     Every year a huge number of visitors come to visit this fort. If you have not visited this palace yet, you must visit it. You will not be disappointed.

    The gorgeous Nahargarh fort was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1734, who was the founder of Jaipur. This fort is connected with the Jaigarh Fort through its fortifications.  It is said that the construction of this fort was obstructed By the spirit of Nahar Singh Bhomia who was a Rathore prince. The spirit was pacified by building a temple dedicated to him. The fort was renovated in 1868 by Sawai Ram Singh.

    The Nahargarh Fort is designed in the Indo-European style of architecture. It has an attractive entrance called Tadigate and has several impressive structures in its complex including a couple of temples. One of them is dedicated to Nahar Singh Bohemia. 

    The most attractive structure of this font is the Madhavendra Bhawan aka Madhavendra Palace. It was constructed by Sawai Madho Singh. There are a total of nine identical suites built for each of the nine queens and all of them were connected via corridors decorated with stunning frescos. The building also has a large open-air enclosure named Diwan-i-Aam.

    There are also two-step wells at this fort. One of them is located within it and the other within the ramparts. The biggest is the outside of the fort.

    By air: The nearest airport to Nahargarh fort is the Jaipur International Airport (JIA). It is situated at a distance of 25.7 km from the fort. It is well connected to the other cities of the country. You will easily find local transport at the airport. Which can take you to your destination. 

    By train: Situated at a distance of 19.1 km the Jaipur Junction Railway Station is the nearest railway station to this Nahargarh fort. It has a good connection with the other cities of Rajasthan and the major cities of India. Local transport like taxis and cabs can be found at the railway station. By hiring them you can reach the renowned palace without any problem.

    By Road: You can find local transport which can take you to the place.
