History

There is no specific history of the bridge. It is a natural bridge and naturally occurring. The side wall of the bridge protected Neil Island from the devastating Tsunami in 2004. So the bridge is an important part of the island and carries its beauty.

The Natural Bridge has a lot of coral which has strengthened the bridge for many years hence the beach adjacent to the bridge is also called the dead coral beach. Starfish, crabs, sea urchins, sometimes small octopuses, and sea cucumbers can be found in the shallow water on large old rocks. The beach is not suitable for swimming due to the presence of corals but trekking can be done. All in all, the natural bridge and the peaceful atmosphere of the beach will make it a perfect place to spend your leisure time.

How to Reach

By Air: Veer Savarkar International Airport is the nearest airport to Natural Bridge on Neil Island. The airport is located in the town of Port Blair.

By Rail: The rail service is not available.

By Road: The capital city Port Blair is well connected to other big cities and the natural bridge is only 43 km away from Port Blair. So, you can hire a bike or book a taxi to reach the bridge.

Tips for Travellers

Take extra comfortable clothes and sunglasses for sunlight protection.
Keep the salain or drinking water to save yourself from dehydration.
There are some beautiful places near the natural bridge so take extra money for travel to those places if you have time.
Be careful to walk because many old corals in the bridge are sharp.
