    The New Market is a market in Kolkata, which is formerly known as Sir Stuart Hogg Market, situated on Lindsay Street, beside Free School Street. Today in local parlance, the entire shopping area is often known as “New Market”, although primarily “New Market” referred to the original enclosed market. New Market, now one of the leading markets in Kolkata, gives hardcore competition to the air-conditioned, modern malls.
