    Situated under the state of Mizoram, in India, the Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the important wildlife sanctuaries in Mizoram. This sanctuary covers an area of about 110 square kilometers. The Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary covers a dense virgin forest and is home to many wildlife animals. These are like- tiger, langur, elephants, common clouded leopard, gaur, barking deer, sambar, rhesus macaque, common langur, wild boar, leaf monkey, hoolock gibbon, and much more. Here you will also find a variety of birds including the national bird of India peacock pheasant, imperial pigeons, and hornbills.

    History

    Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary

    The Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the southwest part of Lawngtlai and at a range of 200 meters to 1200 meters above sea level with virgin subtropical evergreen vegetation from the ground. It is under the supervision of the Range Officer with headquarters in Ngengpui which Beat Officers under the control of DFO Chhimtuipui Forest Division.

    The Ngengpui wildlife sanctuary covers nearly 110 square kilometers of protected rainforest nestled in the valley of the river Ngengpui. This protected area is home to many wildlife animals and birds like- tigers, elephants, Clouded Leopard, Gaur, Wild Leaf Monkey, Barking Deer, peacocks, imperial pigeons, hornbills, and many more. It also has various wild plants, and many of them are rare. This wildlife sanctuary is a unique habitat for a wide range of Herpeto Fauna.

    By Air: Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary can be easily reached by air. The nearest airport to this place is Lengpui airport of Aizawl which is situated at a distance of 315 km from this place.

    By Rail: The nearest railway station to this place is located in Silchar in the state of Assam and the distance from Silchar railway station to Aizawl is approximately 185 kilometers. From there you need to hire any local transport to reach your destination.

    By Road: The city of Aizawl is well connected with the other states of the country. You can easily go there by bus. One can find several buses on this route. Which would be a long, enjoyable journey.
