    The Ross & Smith Islands are twin islands north of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands connected by 50 meters sand bar. This Bar sinks during high tide and is visible again during low tide. Have a pleasant environment and the island is covered by shade and divides the swimming area on one side to enjoy on the other side. Body and mind merge in the air playing with the waves of the clear of the island.

    History

    Actually, Ross & Smith islands are two islands that are joined together by a sandbar. It is also known as the twin island. Ross island is also known as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose island which belongs to the South Andaman administrative district in Andaman and Nicobar islands. Port Blair is 3 km away from the district.

Here during high tide, the bar sinks and during low tide, it’s visible at a time. The islands are covered by greenery one side has a swimming facility and the other side has a water sports facility. There are some beautiful resorts in Port Blair near the islands.

    How to Reach

    By Air: Veer Savarkar International Airport is the nearest airport which is located in Port Blair. After arriving at the airport, you can hire a taxi, car, or auto rickshaw to reach the islands. 

    By Boat: Many boats are available from digilpur and it takes 25 minutes. Around INR 2000 for six people and the ride from Diglipur to Aerial Bay Jetty is approximately 15 minutes. Some Government ferries are also available.  

    Tips for Travellers

    • Carry a DSLR and the picnic essentials to have a wonderful time.
    • Keep some extra money around 10,000-15,000 and visit the nearby places. 
    • Book the ferries first and then hotels because sometimes the ferries get canceled at times for bad weather.
