    Sanjeevaiah Children’s Park enjoys a prime location, located by the side of Hussain Sagar Lake, at the center of the city. This park is maintained by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, named after the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Damodaram Sanjivayya. Located on the other side of the lake, initially, there were plans to connect Sanjeevaiah Children’s Park to Lumbini Park, through an aerial tramway. Though the proposal wasn’t permitted, later. The Best Open Landscape Award in 2010, was received by this park, under the category of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage. Hyderabad is also renowned to be one of the oldest and largest parks.

For many events, it is also a common venue, ranging from roller skating races to social awareness campaigns.

    It also boasts rich fauna along with scenic beauty. Comprising both resident and non-resident birds, this park has nearly 100 species of avian fauna. You can see many more species of migratory birds, during the winter season, from all over the world. In this park, there are about 50 species of insects and butterflies. Pied Crested Cuckoo is one of the commonly spotted birds in this park, which is popularly considered an indication of the arrival of monsoon rains. Although, when the construction work started in the park, many of the other common avian visitors such as jacanas, spot bills, cormorants, common coot, cranes, and purple herons have not been seen in the park since 2010.

Away from the traffic and noises of the city streets, sit and enjoy the sprawling greenery around you. The wide array of roses here is the most popular feature of this park. Everyone is also captivated by its rock garden and floral clock. For families to for a day outing, it is really an ideal place. For children to play, there is ample area as well. Adult games like Frisbee can also be played.

    How to Reach

    By Air: To other major cities of the country, Secunderabad is not well connected, via regular flights. Begumpet Airport is the nearest airport in Hyderabad with about a distance of 5kms.

    By Rail: From other major cities of the country, there are no regular trains to Secunderabad. Begumpet railway station is the nearest Railway station to Hyderabad located at a distance of 10 km. There are also other railway stations in Hyderabad.

    BY ROAD: From the bus stand, regular services of state roadways and privately owned buses of the city are available. With important cities and states, roads are also well connected. To reach your desired destination, you can also hire rented cars or taxis.
