    In India, inaugurated on 1st July 1997, the Science City, one of its kind has been developed as a major attraction for the residents of Kolkata as well as for the national and international visitors to the metropolis. Presenting science and technology in a stimulating and engaging environment that is truly educational and enjoyable for people of all ages,  it is one of the largest and finest in the world, developed by the National Council of Science Museums. For both the young and the old, it has, over the years, become a place for memorable experiences and enjoyment.

    Attraction

    1. Earth Exploration Hall: The earth-shaped building is itself an architectural wonder, which is the site of a permanent exhibition on Earth. On 6th December 2008, the gates first opened for visitors.  On the ground floor, the two-storied hemispherical building of 25 diameters exhibits the southern hemisphere and the northern one on the second. It can be a fun learning site outside the classroom, for children learning the basics of geographical science.
    2. Space Odyssey: It has all the scopes, be it a time machine, space theatre, or 3D theatre. Interestingly, dedicated to India’s achievement in space, it also has a special section.
    3. Dynamotion Hall: In the dynamotion hall has Biodiversity Room, Aquarium, Butterfly Enclave, Physical Science Room, Nano Lab, Illusion, Power of 10 and Science Show.
    4. Science Exploration Hall: Visiting this hall can be like reading a colorful encyclopedia, for those interested in scientific exploration and in the history of scientific development. The following categories, the exhibits are divided :

    1. Maritime Centre: Covering maritime history and activity, the maritime center has exhibits.
    2. Musical Fountain: Thanks to the wonderful sync of musical symphonies, water movements, and colorful lights, for which in the evening, the musical fountain becomes a light and sound show.
    3. Cable Cars: The science city also has a cable car option as an inside transport, to prevent the visitors from getting tired from all the walking around the park.
    4. Outdoor Science Park: Making the most of the rides, your kids will get to run in the lush greenery, here. There is also a road train and a children’s play center.
    5. Science on a Sphere: To participate in amazing visualization of the earth’s movement and planetary data would authorize you. It can accommodate 70 visitors at a time, one of the first in Eastern India. You would definitely be mesmerized by the show of planetary space and beyond, by entering there.
    1. Corona Virus Exhibition: The great coronavirus pandemic, is not forgotten by them, which was no doubt the latest disaster of humankind. Science City is hosting an exhibition on Coronavirus and the greatest pandemic of our time, now, that everything is over and we finally have the courage to look back.

    History

    Science City Kolkata, also known as the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) Science City, is a prominent science center and museum in Kolkata, India. It was conceptualized and developed by the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) in the late 1980s. The foundation stone was laid on January 21, 1997, and it was inaugurated on July 1, 1997, by the Prime Minister of India, H.D. Deve Gowda. The center aims to promote science education, foster scientific temperament, and create an interactive learning experience for visitors. Science City Kolkata has undergone expansion and development over the years, adding new interactive exhibits, galleries, and educational programs. It actively promotes science education through workshops, camps, and programs for school children and teachers. The center has received several awards and recognition for its efforts in science popularization and education.
