    St. Francis CSI Church is popularly known as Franchise Church which is located in Fort Kochi. Fort Kochi is the first European fort in India. The Portuguese established a permanent settlement with a wooden church behind the fort in 1517. It is now known as Francis Church. Saint Francis Church was built in 1503. It is a European Church. The Portuguese established a permanent settlement with a wooden church behind the fort in 1517 which is now known as St. Francis CSI Church. In 1524, Vasco da Gama came to India for the third time. He died in India that same year.  His body was buried in this church. The architecture of St. Francis CSI Church is like an old European style.
