    The word ‘Surajkund ‘ means the lake of the Sun and is an artificial kind. It is an ancient reservoir From the 10 century. it is located on the Southern Delhi Ridge of the Aravalli range in Faridabad city of Haryana state. It is about 8 km (5 mi) from South Delhi. It is built in the backdrop of the Aravalli hills and an amphitheater-shaped embankment constructed in a semicircular form.

Besides this place is also known for its annual fair “Surajkund International Craft Mela. In the 2015 edition, the 2015 edition of this fair was visited by 1.2 million visitors. Including 160,000 foreigners, more than 20 countries participated in it.

    The whole view of This place is awesome. It has been built in the shape of the rising sun,  with an eastward arc, besides being enclosed within a steep embankment. It is made in a semi-circular shape made of stepping stones. This reservoir provides a grand spectacle but in the past, it was a hunting forest resort. This reservoir abounds in dancing peacocks and it is filled up,  during every monsoon season.

    It remains dry during summer. Before the onset of the monsoon rains. In the 1920s, The tank underwent major repairs, during British times. So, if you are in this place, Don’t miss visiting the place.
