Situated under the city of Serchhip, under the state of Mizoram in India the Vantawng falls are the pride of the state and one of its prime attractions. It is located 5 km south of Thenzawl in the Serchhip district. It is one of the highest falls in the state and has 13 highest falls in the country. It is about 92 km away from the capital city of the state Aizawl.

The Vantawng Khawhthla or Vantawng Falls is the highest and most spectacular of the waterfalls and cascades in the fast-flowing rivers of Mizoram. The view of the place is breathtaking. Visiting this place will be an excellent experience.

History

The marvelous Vantawnga falls is named after Vantawnga, who was said to be an excellent swimmer. He was such a good swimmer he could hover in the cascading water like a fish, but unfortunately, during one of his performances, a drifting log fell from above and killed Vantawnga.

The Vantawng Waterfalls is the highest waterfall in the state of Mizoram and definitely the most beautiful one. It is one of the finest waterfalls in the North East. It is surrounded by mountains and greenery. The thick greenery around the waterfall seems like a river of milk flowing from a distance. The waterfall can be viewed from a distance because of the thick forest covering it. It is the reason why the Tourism Department has set up a viewing tower so that the tourist can witness the breathtaking view of the waterfall. Vantawng Falls are a testament to the majestic natural beauty which is hidden within the Northeast. Vantawng Falls are at a height of 750 ft and gushing waters from such a height are a sight to be cherished.
