    Yumthang valley is a lovely, attractive grazing area surrounded by mountains in Sikkim’s north Sikkim region. The ‘Valley of Flowers’ is a well-known appellation. The valley is exceptionally gorgeous, with tree-covered green hills, a softly flowing river, and lovely Himalayan flowers.

    The Yak ride should be an experience for anybody visiting Yumthang Valley. Yumthang Chu and Puniya Chu, both well-stocked rivers for fishers, are close by. The Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, which boasts a 35-square-kilometer area with over 38 distinct species of rhododendrons, is only 7-8 kilometers away. A hiker’s trail goes to a little bridge connected to the Yumthang Hot Spring on the way to Yumthang Valley. The water pouring from here remains warm even in the coldest winter, which is an unexpected feature of this location.

    Because of its high sulfur concentration, it is said to have therapeutic significance for healing. A well-known Shiva Temple is located around 7 kilometers north of the hot spring. Zero Point, located 23 kilometers from Yumthang Valley at an elevation of about 15,000 feet and near to the Chinese border, is another famous trekking destination due to its vast scenic beauty and unimpeded views of the snowy peaks.     There is no place to stay in the valley. Tourists stay at Lachung, about an hour’s drive from the valley. There are many hotels and resorts in Lachung.

    By Air: The nearest airport to Lachung is  Gangtok Airport. Regular flights to many destinations are accessible from there. To go to Lachung, one’ll need to take a cab or a bus from here. Yumthang Valley may be reached through public transportation from Lachung.

    By Rail: The railway station at Lachung is close to the city and easily accessible by car. To get there, you can take any of the various public transportation options.     Tips for Travellers

    • .Yumthang is located at a high altitude, and it may be bitterly cold at any moment. Bring warm clothing in all seasons. Carry high-altitude sickness medicine as well.
    •  There are still no ATMs in Yumthang. So take enough cash.
    •  It is recommended that you go from Gangtok to Lachung and spend the night there before continuing on to Yumthang the next morning. A straight trip to Yumthang is not possible since it gets dark early (about 5:30 PM) and the roads are hazy.
