Sikkim is one of the states of India which is located in northeastern India. Sikkim is one of the most beautiful state. Nearly 40% of the total area is forested.It is also the smallest state of India.

Saga Dawa is one of the godliest festivals in Sikkim.
Sikkim has an old tradition of making several utility objects. One of the most popular handicraft objects of Sikkim includes a hockey table, woolen carpet, canvas wall hanging, and thankas delineating paintings on various aspects of the state. Folk songs and dances are an inveterate part of the Sikkimese culture. Some of the most famous dance forms are Rechungma, Gha To Kito, Chi Ramu, Be Yu Mista, Tashi Zaldha, and Enchey Chaam.
Sikkim was a Buddhist kingdom under the Namgyal-Chogyal dynasty from 1642 to 1975. In 1835, the area of Darjeeling – which had been part of Sikkim until then – was annexed by British India. With the independence of India in 1947, Sikkim was a protectorate first of British India. In 1975, it merged with India as its 22nd state.
The Lepchas are the earliest inhabitants of Sikkim. The Buddhist saint Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, is said to have passed through the land in the 8th century. The Guru is reported to have blessed the land, introduced Buddhism, and foretold the era of monarchy that would arrive in Sikkim.
Sikkim has delicious lip-smacking food items. The food of Sikkim is a rich mixture of Nepalese, Tibetan, and native Sikkimese food. This blend of the three cultures is very soothing to the taste. By Train: Sikkim does not have its own station, New Jalpaiguri and Siliguri rail stations are the two nearest rail stations located in West Bengal. We can easily get cabs or taxis from these stations to Sikkim as they are well connected.
By Air: There is no airport in Sikkim itself so you will have to travel to the nearest airport is Bagdogra in West Bengal. You can travel by helicopter service from Bagdogra to Gangtok which takes about 30 minutes.
By Road: We can travel by taxi or cab from the nearest states that are Siliguri and Darjeeling, both in West Bengal. It is a scenic route, as well as the Teesta river, flows on one side while on the other side are lush green mountains
