Aside from its historical and cultural prestige, it is a popular hiking destination with tea plantations scattered throughout the area. According to local folklore, King Jujhar Fa was a disciple of Lord Shiva and he prayed to the Mahadev on the banks of the Mau River and was blessed by the Lord.
