The Khajuraho, Group of Monuments is a group of Hindu temples and Jain temples in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is about 175 km to the southeast of Jhansi. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temples are famous for their nagara-style architectural symbolism and their erotic sculptures. According to the wiki – Most Khajuraho temples were built between 950 AD and 1050 AD by the Chandela dynasty. Historical records note that the Khajuraho temple site had 85 temples by the 12th century, spread over 20 square kilometers. Of these, only about 25 temples have survived, spread over six square kilometers. Of the surviving temples, the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple is decorated with a profusion of sculptures with intricate details, symbolism, and expressiveness of ancient Indian art.
The Khajuraho group of temples were built together but were dedicated to two religions, Hinduism and Jainism, suggesting a tradition of acceptance and respect for diverse religious views among Hindus and Jains in the region.

How to reach

By Road: Khajuraho is well-connected with some major cities of India. It has regular buses operating from Satna and Jhansi. The roads to Jhansi and Satna are in relatively good condition with a few bumpy patches here and there. There are many stops along the route, so the journey itself can be long. While boarding a bus from Jhansi, one has to switch buses at Chhatarpur as there is no direct bus between Jhansi and Khajuraho. Khajuraho also has daily buses plying to Harpalpur, Chhatarpur, Mahoba, Sagar, Jabalpur, Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Panna, Agra, Allahabad, and Varanasi.
By Train: Khajuraho has its own railway station. It is connected to Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh via the Delhi-Chennai/Bangalore/Trivandrum route. There are regular trains to Delhi, Agra, and Varanasi. Khajuraho is also well-connected to some of the main cities of Rajasthan via the Udaipur-Gwalior Express.
By Air: Khajuraho has its own airport (Khajuraho Airport) & which is located 5 km from the main town area. It is suitably connected to other cities in India. Air India has flights originating from Delhi, Agra, Varanasi, and Mumbai to Khajuraho. The next closest airport is the Kanpur Airport. After reaching the airport, you can easily hire a taxi or cab to reach your final destinations.
