Moirang is a small town in the Indian state of Manipur. It is situated approximately 45 km south of the state capital Imphal. This place has seen wars and upheavals in the past but is beautiful nonetheless. It is famous for the Loktak Lake whose serene water is home to a plethora of flora and fauna. It is the very place where Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose along with his Indian National Army fought a war with Britishers. During the Second World War, It was the unofficial headquarters for Indian National Army from where everything was controlled.
This place is perfect for a weekend getaway to unwind and relax. It is also a safe haven for Sangai deers which were once thought to be extinct. A short trip to Moirang will rejuvenate your soul and make you feel refreshed.

How to reach

By Road: It is well-connected to Imphal city with a good road, which in turn it’s connected to Guwahati and Silchar in Assam. National Highway NH-150 passes through It connecting to nearby cities. Bus services are frequently available from Imphal to Moirang.
 
By Train: Moirang has no railway station of its own. However, the nearest major railway station is in Dimapur, which is about 250 km away. After reaching the railway station, taxis & buses are available to reach Moirang.
By Air: Moirang has no airport of its own. However, the nearest airport to reach the city is Imphal city. It’s known as ‘Tulihal Airport’, which is about 48 km away. It has direct flights to the cities of Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati, Aizawl, Silchar, and Dimapur.
