Ranchi is the capital of the Indian state of Jharkhand. This city was the center of the Jharkhand movement, which called for a separate state for the tribal regions of South Bihar, northern Orissa, western West Bengal, and the eastern area of what is present-day Chhattisgarh (According to wiki). The City is named after a local bird ‘Ranchi’, mostly found in and around the famous “Pahari Mandir”, the Hill Temple in Ranchi. It is blessed with mineral resources in abundance and is known as the “Manchester of the East”. It accounts for nearly 18% of the national mineral production. With six industrial areas, it is an integral part of the industrial setup of the state of Jharkhand along with Jamshedpur and Bokaro. Ranchi is richly endowed with enviable natural beauty and picturesque environs. It has numerous waterfalls located in the close vicinity of the city and is known as the ‘City of Waterfalls and Lakes’. Because of its hilly topography, it enjoys a pleasant climate throughout the year.

By Road: Ranchi is well-connected with many other cities in India. Bus services are available for many cities and towns. You can travel in deluxe bus services or book cabs from Ranchi Car Rental services and access taxi services online. National Highway 33 and 23 passes through Ranchi. Jharkhand State Road Transport Corporation operates several buses as well. There are private bus operators which offer luxury buses & these buses can also be hired from various places and to different cities.

By Train: Ranchi Railway Station is the main railway station of this city and Its connected to most of the cities like Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, etc. Its railway hub has four major stations namely Ranchi Junction, Hatia Station, Tatisilwai Station, and Namkom Station. There are daily trains like the Shatabdi Express, Hatia Howrah Express, Hatia Patna Express, etc. then bi-weekly trains like Ranchi New Delhi Rajdhani Express, Ranchi Kamakhya Express, etc. You can easily hire a taxi or cab to reach your preferred destination after reaching the railway station.

By Air: The nearest airport is Birsa Munda Airport in Hinoo, which is 7 km away from the city center. Gaya Airport at 179 km away, Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Airport is in Patna at 420 km away and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata is located 365 km away. Birsa Munda Airport has direct flights from Patna, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Goa, Jammu, and Kolkata. Major airlines like Air India, GoAir, Indigo, Jet Lite, and Jet Airways are serviceable here and it is also furnished with an international terminal. One can fly into Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport and travel on to Ranchi either by air or train. This airport is connected to international cities like Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Dubai, etc., and Emirates, Singapore Airlines, et al fly through here.
