    As the waterfall isn’t properly known to all, it is regarded as a hidden gem of Kerala. It is located near the village of Pampakuda in the district of Ernakulam in Kerala. The waterfall became popular when the Kerala government took some effective steps to promote its natural beauty in 2014.  The waterfall comes down rocky cliffs in three tiers that give you a fascinating effect. The nearby waterfall landscape is surrounded by lush greenery, and the environment is serene.  Nowadays, it is a popular place for photography, picnics, family outings, and sightseeing. It’s a perfect getaway for relaxation in the laps of nature.

    History

    Areeckal Waterfall is a hidden gem located in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. It is situated mainly near the village of Pampakuda. It was not a popular place until 2014. Kerala government took the initiative to flourish the natural beauty, and they launched the Areeckal Tourism Development Project.  Basically, the waterfall forms from the Mannathur Hills in Tirumaradi Panchayat, which falls from a height of over 70 feet. It has no fascinating history. Gradually, it becomes a famous tourist place.

    By Air: The closest airport is Cochin International Airport to the place.  It is about 45 kilometers away from the place. From here, you can hire a taxi or bus to get there.

    By Train: Ernakulam Junction  Railway Station is the nearest station to the place.  It is only 36 kilometres away from the place. From here, you have to take an auto-rickshaw or taxi to get there.

    By Bus: Piramadam is the nearest bus stand to the place. It is only 10 kilometres away from the place. From here, you can take an auto-rickshaw or walk there very easily.

    • The Winter season, from October to February,  is the best time to visit the place. 
    • Carry your necessary papers, passport, water bottles & medicines,  insect repellent & energy drink.
    • Please dress according to the weather.
