    History

Ashtabhuja Devi Temple, as the name suggests, is dedicated to the goddess Ashtbhuja, the daughter of ‘Yashoda,’ the foster mother of Lord Krishna. The legends say she escaped miraculously from the heinous demon Kansa (king of Mathura) and landed upon a hilltop in the Vindhyachal mountains. The name Ashtabhuja comes from the goddess having eight hands (bhuja means hands). She was the daughter of Yashoda (who was the foster mother of Lord Krishna).
