    History

Kannur Baby Beach — This is a small but beautiful beach premise that lies an inch ahead of the main Payyambalam. Famous for its peaceful environment and beautiful surroundings to relax in from the daily hustle-bustle by the Arabian Sea side, where most people spend their time. Baby Beach was given this cute name simply because it is smaller than the other surrounding beaches. On the heritage front, Kannur historically existed at a time when ancient trade and land-raj seem to have opened its gates (or been claimed for) by colonial winds in town. Back then, it was under the control of the Portuguese for a very long time, and later, both the Dutch in one part and the British in the other two regions. The Portuguese built Angelo’s Fort in 1505 before it fell to Dutch rule. It is also interesting to know that Baby Beach shares history with some relevant places around it. Today, Baby Beach is a getaway and favorite local hangout spot. Morning and evening walks are also popular here.
