    Bamni Falls is one of the most popular tourist spots which is located in the Purulia district of West Bengal. This waterfall is part of the Ayodhya Hills. The view of the waterfall is truly mesmerizing and the crystal clear water is cool. It provides pleasure and natural beauty to the tourists. It has about 400 stairs. It represents the vitality, spirit, and enjoyment of nature. During the monsoon ( June – September)  season, the waterfalls are large and most breathable. There are rocks and green trees all around. The air is moist and fresh. The sound of falling water is very soothing and removes all the sadness of the mind. The scenic beauty in and around the fall is outstanding.

    • Rocks: The area features a variety of large,  smooth rocks, often shaped by years of erosion and weathering. The slope is covered in green vegetation where big rocks are hidden.

    Firstly, Bamni Falls is known for its natural beauty. It stands for the life, spirit, and appreciation of nature. Historically, this fall has been a symbol of the region’s tribal heritage. In other words, according to Hindu mythology, Sita & Ramchandra stayed on Ayodhya Hill for the same days they were exiled. The day was summer & there was a water crisis. One day, Sita was thirsty, and she asked Ramchandra to make a permanent solution to this crisis. Then Ramchandra threw his arrow on the soil and there appeared water. Sita quenched her thirst. This place is known as Sita-kunda. It never got dried up.

    Among the many waterfalls Bamni falls has long been a hidden gem. It is a source of fresh water and a place for recreation for locals and tourists. To preserve the area’s integrity the local people and government can be always aware.

    By Air: The closest airport to Purulia is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International  Airport, Kolkata.  It is about 250 km from Purulia. From here, you can take a bus or train to Purulia. 

    By Train: Kolkata to Purulia rail distance is 322 km. From here, trains from Kolkata are available for Purulia on a regular basis. Barabhum station on the South Eastern Railway is 22 km from Baghmundi, the gateway to Ayodhya hills. Purulia station is 54 km away from Baghmundi. From here, you can take a direct bus to Baghumndi from Kolkata.

    By Road: The road is connected by road with Kolkata and surrounding towns like Bankura,  Bakura, Asansol, Ranchi, and other parts of the state.

    • Be careful while swimming in the pool, as the rocks can be slippery.
