One of the must visit parks in Kharagpur and West Medinipur is ‘Bengal Nagpur Railway Garden’. Almost everything is available in this park, starting from Children’s Park, Boating, Riding, Gola Gaon, Ducks, Rabbits, Toy Train, Gola Gaon, Statues, Flower Garden to, Musical Chair, etc. It is also a good picnic spot as well.
The whole area is well maintained. However, you need to pay a small entry fee as well as a parking fee. Besides, for the toy train, boat, etc. you have to pay too. There is a small area, ‘Gola gaon,’ which is surrounded by water to take beautiful photographs.
The park is quite eco-friendly. If you’re visiting this park with kids, they will definitely love this park. It is spacious and has many activities to do. It has slides, swings for the kids. It will be best to visit during the winter season as the weather will be more soothing and more flowers will bloom.
This park has ducks and rabbits, which makes the kids very happy. Besides, there are other activities for kids as well as adults. You can simply take a walk to this place.

This place is very attractive to the kids. They get to play with the boat and an eco-themed village as well. They also have a battery-operated car (designed for the kids). They can take a ride on the operational toy train to enjoy the most.
The garden’s maintenance is strictly maintained making it an eco-friendly park along with a theme village. The addition of animals such as ducks, birds, and rabbits made it even more appealing and exciting. The canteen near the garden is also a good addition.
The best time to visit the park would be in the winter months (Nov – Feb). It is because the weather is more pleasant as well as comfortable for outdoor activities. History

The ‘Bengal Nagpur Railway’ was formed in 1887. The purpose was to upgrade the ‘Nagpur Chhattisgarh Line’ and then extend it via ‘Bilaspur to Asansol’ in order to develop a shorter ‘Howrah–Mumbai‘ route than the one via Allahabad. This station is truly significant both economically and socially. The garden was constructed shortly after. But not much information about the origin of the garden has been found. This popular park has served as a recreational space for years.

There are also many flowers like rose garden and other botanical types. It’s great to use a small boat to sail over a small lake. Kharagpur is well connected with other major cities like Siliguri, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Mumbai etc. of the country. And from Kharagpur city, you will get local transport to reach the site.

By air: The closest airport, ‘Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport’ (which is an international one), is almost 135 kilometres away from this area which is in Dum Dum, Kolkata. You can visit this place from outside of India. Apart from that, there are airports in Delhi, Mumbai, or Lucknow with direct flights to Kolkata. From the airport, you can easily get local transport to reach the site.

By train: The closest railway station from the Bengal Nagpur Railway Garden is not more than 2 km away at the ‘Kharagpur Railway Station’. This station is well connected with major areas of the country. From the station, you will get local transport so that you can reach the site.
