Bindu is a village located just before the Bhutan border, about 107 kilometers from Siliguri, and is the last village in West Bengal. Perched at the height of 2000ft along the meandering river Jaldhaka, scenically blessed with the view of daunting lofty hills and increased demand of tourism in Dooars, Bindu has emerged as a favored offbeat destination of the Dooars region. The word “Bindu” is derived from the Bengali word, which stands for the word “point.” Bindu is famous among travellers for offering an outstanding visual of the Dooars plains and the mountainous valley of Bhutan. River Jaldhaka is created by the conjunction of three rivers that meet at Bindu. The three rivers, Bindu Khola, Dudh Pokhri, and Jaldhaka, originate from the Kupup Lake. Kupup Lake is a small glacial lake in Sikkim. The main purpose of the construction of the Bindu Dam was to control the supply of water to the Jaldhaka Hydel Project at Jhalong. It is the second oldest dam in India. There is no specific time to visit the Bindu view point, but for a better view and to experience winter, it is the best time from November to mid-January.
