    The Bougainvillea Park is located at a distance of 4 km from Chandigarh Bus Station. It is one of Chandigarh‘s most beautiful parks and most visited places. This garden has acquired a significant position in the eyes of tourists in a short period of time. The annual Bougainvillea festival, which is a very famous festival conducted in the park attracts a large number of people. Besides these beautiful paper-like flowers, the park also holds fitness tracks that provide a good walk and morning and evening exercise field amidst a colorful bridge. The colorful scenario looks mesmerizing. If you are visiting Chandigarh, you must not miss this place.

    Bougainvillea Park ChandigarhThe Bougainvillea Park is just adjacent to the chief minister’s house. The beautiful garden has a huge variety of bougainvillea with a Martyr garden in between. It is the first garden through which N-choe enters Chandigarh from behind High-court and further flows into Leisure Valley. 

    The garden is full of colorful flowers which look majestic. It is a very nice place to enjoy and observe the beauty of nature. The park is very well maintained. The atmosphere of the park is so refreshing. You can have a nice walk here and also have a nice time with your family and friends. Kids also love this place a lot. Besides, being a naturally beautiful park you will enjoy this place because it is also a memorial for the people who laid their life for the country. 

    History

    Situated within the garden is the Chandigarh War Memorial Bougainvillea Park was set up covering a total area of 20 acres in the year 1976. 

    Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam inaugurated the park in 2006. The memorial is dedicated to those people who laid their lives defending their country since independence. The lists of Martyrs from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. It is the largest post-Independence war memorial in the country. The garden exhibits 65 distinctive varieties of Bougainvillea shrubs planted here. They are shaped in different forms like pavilions, an arch, arcades, etc.  Some flowering trees can also be seen here. Those give colorful effects during the intervening period of bougainvillea flowering time.
